My Outlook – Camping How To That Will Boost Your Fun

Make sure that you are always conscious of safety rules, regulations and best practices when you camp. It’s always important to understand that while you may be curious about wildlife, do not get too close or encourage them to come near you, no matter their size. Small wildlife, such as squirrels, can be very dangerous despite their tiny size. And, unless you’re in Jellystone Park, don’t feed any bears!

Be sure to have extra clothing and food along whenever you camp. You want to have enough clothing and food if something unexpected happens. If your food is ruined by the weather or eaten by wild animals, it is always good to have packed extra supplies. What do you plan to eat on your camping trip? Think about the meals you want to make before you head out, and plan your trip around that. You can easily boil foods like hot dogs over a boiling pot of water and an open flame, but you need the right equipment. Be attentive and learn what you need to know regarding camping. One of the best things that you’ll find when camping is the time you’ll get to share with those you love. Since you’re wanting to get all you can out of your camping trip, pay attention to the advice that follows.

Pack an ample supply of sunscreen. You must stay protected from the sun’s rays. Purchase a sunscreen that will provide you with optimal sun protection. You might want to choose sunscreen that includes insect repellent. When you go camping, you won’t want to have a lot of chemicals on you.

Clean up your campsite before going home. Include trash bags in your supplies to make cleanup easy. Get rid of things like trash and leftover food. A good rule of thumb is to only leave your footprints behind. Make sure you know what the weather will be before going on your trip. There are lots of websites that can give you an idea of what the typical weather is like in the area during the time of your travel. When you have some idea of how the weather will behavior while you are camping, you can pack appropriate clothing and equipment.

If you will be camping for an extended amount of time, you may want to take the time to pack some entertainment. Books, board games, a guitar or some music are all great options to bring along.

Preserve the batteries in your flashlight. During transit, flashlights can get mistakenly turned on. Make sure you keep your batteries out of your flashlight, or insert them backwards. This way you’ll have the batteries inside of the flashlight but the batteries will not die out on accident.

Always find your shelter before it gets dark when you go camping. Once the woods are dark, it is very difficult to find firewood, pitch your tent and prepare some food. This is particularly important if you are not used to doing things in the dark. Don’t let this happen to you. Look for adequate shelter before it gets this dark. Purchase a few camping pillows to take with you. If you use your bedroom pillows, the humid weather will make them feel hot and sticky. They may also get mildew from all the moisture outside. Pillows designed for camping have a coating on them that does not all the moisture to be absorbed. Pack strategically. Have a checklist on hand and cross your items off the list as you add them to your pack. This is very helpful if you’ll be far from civilization. Keep your food safe when you are camping. Keep food in waterproof containers of airtight bags. Food should also be stored in an insulated cooler. Cooked and raw food need to be stored seperately to avoid contamination. Use a cleaner or sanitizer to keep hands and surfaces clean, just as you would at home. Cook foods to the right internal temperature and get foods that need to be cold chilled quickly.
